|
Funding | Federal |
Description: The Aboriginal Community Safety Planning Initiative (ACSPI) works to prevent incidents of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG), provides a means to enhance accessibility to Restorative Justice programming and responds to the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). Support for Indigenous community-led planning and implementation of solutions The ACSPI supports Indigenous communities in the development of Community Safety Plans (CSPs) which are specific to their unique circumstances. These plans identify community strengths, assets and safety and wellness goals in order for all community members to see themselves involved on a path leading toward a healthier, safer home and community life. In this uniquely grass-roots approach, Public Safety Canada officials work with communities and continue to support them through the many stages of CSP engagement, development and implementation. However, before the process starts, it is important that the community leaders fully support the concept and demonstrate commitment. Public Safety Canada officials provide information and are available to answer questions but will not actually start the process without having been invited, and having received written endorsement from the community leadership first. |

Description: The Health Facilities Program provides funding to support: planning construction expansion renovation maintenance management of community health facilities. These activities provide First Nations, Inuit and ISC-employed healthcare staff the space required to safely and efficiently deliver health care programs and services in First Nations and Inuit communities. The types of health infrastructure supported under this program include health services buildings, addictions treatment centres, Aboriginal Head Start on Reserve spaces and residences for healthcare professionals. The nature of the health infrastructure required by a community is assessed based on a number of factors: the types of health programs and services being delivered in the community the number and type of health professionals providing such services population size the proximity of the community to provincial, territorial or other community health services The majority of health facilities funded through the program are First Nations health facilities serving First Nations individuals and families living on or near reserves. The program supports First Nations communities in assuming greater control over their health facilities planning, for example, through the use of community health plans, including operational plans to support health services delivery. The long-term goal of the program is to transfer control over the planning, design and delivery of health infrastructure programs and services to Indigenous organizations and institutions. |

Description: Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, Canada A Free Book Gifting Program Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Canada is a free book gifting program devoted to inspiring a love of reading in the hearts of children everywhere. Each month, enrolled children receive a high quality, age appropriate book in the mail, free of charge. Children receive books from birth to age five. From a Toronto stage in November of 2006, Dolly Parton gleefully announced the Canadian expansion of her Imagination Library. It was the first international push for the organization. The development was thanks, in part, to an early agreement with the Canadian-based organization, Invest in Kids which proved to be just the beginning. Program coverage in Canada spans across Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Northwest Territories, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Yukon Territories. Each year, more books featuring Canadian authors and illustrators are introduced into the program. Additionally, titles with themes and subjects that appeal to the Canadian readers are added. |

Through the CAPF, Canadians have access to a variety of professional artistic experiences in their communities. Each year, we support approximately 600 professional arts festivals and performing arts series, as well as other activities related to art presentation, in more than 250 cities or communities across Canada. Ultimately, the long-term results of the program allows Canadians to value and engage with professional artistic experiences. The CAPF has two main components – Programming and Development. The CAPF Programming component has two sub-components: Professional Arts Festivals and Performing Arts Series Presenters; and Presenter Support Organizations. |

This funding helps Canadian cities and communities of all sizes undertake sustainability projects that reduce emissions, accelerate energy savings and keep energy dollars in the community. Your feasibility study should demonstrate and validate the project’s environmental, social and economic benefits, in line with GMF’s thresholds for capital projects. |
